Erin Ryan's directing experience began in news, directing her station to its first Emmy-award winning broadcast of The Centre County Report.  After directing foreign-language newscasts in Spanish, Mandarian, and Cantonese while operating live robotic cameras, she turned her eyes to the narrative film industry full-time.

"Uncomfortable ones" are the narratives films Erin cites as her writing-directing style. Her premiere short film Alex, Stop, initially banned from the Women in Film She Directed competition for being "too shocking," went on to become a Top Ten Finalist in the same competition, backed by popular demand.

Her feature debut Love Isn't Enough, 2016,  was a co-directed production about an interracially married couple amidst the Black Lives Matter movement. RogerEbert.com calls it "A Blue Valentine of sorts for the Black Lives Matter discourse." Read Nick Allen's full review here.

The film was a nominee for Best Narrative Feature - Drama at the California Long Beach Indie International Film Festival (2016), Chicago's Black Harvest Film Festival premiered the film in 2016 and The Toronto Black Film Festival (2017) hosted it's international debut. Being a Thanksgiving-centric movie, it continues to air in select cities around the holidays on television.

Erin Ryan continues to direct in multiple languages, most recently in collaboration with OMSONG BOK she met at the KIXX shootout event in Seoul. Her entry short Nice Hat  took home Best Director and Omsong took home Best Picture.  The two united for the short film 해방 (Release)  centering on the contrasting cultural expectations of fatherhood for Korean-Americans.  These Seoul-based shorts blossomed the longtime collaboration between her and her favorite editor Michael Mastre.

Erin works in both Drama and Comedy alike, directing comedy all 13 episodes of the digital series Meet Carole starring producer/writer Hillary Hamilton of Cocobana Films.

She has also guest-directed episodes of various digital works based in Los Angeles while training with UCB Sketch comedy and directed numerous scenes for LA's Jig Reel.

She is a student of the Los-Angeles based Corey Mandell Television and Screenwriting Intensive.

She is currently based in NYC. Contact her.
