ART 3801 is a one-credit hour Art Field Study course offered by the Department of Art. Through the course, students go on one guided visit to a city rich in culture, art and design.

This fall semester, Associate Professor Joseph Morzuch and Assistant Professor Aubrey Pohl guided 16 students on a multi-day, immersive visit to New York City centered on experiencing museums, galleries, design firms, studios and the broader arts ecosystem.
Molly Brown, a junior graphic design major, was one of the students in the class.
鈥淚 feel like we were exposed to a lot of content that most students aren鈥檛 exposed to,鈥 Brown said. 鈥淚鈥檓 from the South, so to get to see a different culture was very interesting and rewarding.鈥
Senior art major Kayani Carthen Qualls feels that New York is a unique city, and getting to experience it was gratifying.
鈥淚f you get the chance to go to New York, I would definitely recommend it because you get to see new things and meet plenty of people,鈥 Qualls said.
The course assignments are tied to experience, such as sketchbooks, reflection essays and creative projects culminating in a campus exhibition. On this trip, students also have opportunities for professional exposure, networking and cultural enrichment that adds to the studio courses back on campus.
